I visited an IDP camp

I am always in awed by my people's resiliency to sustain calmness amid being surrounded by Burma army posts and its mortar shells. 

I was very moved when I saw specks of lights from refugee camps along the border in frigid cold condition. As we drove into Laiza, goose bumps were running down my spine when I saw X'mas lights and banners suspending across the streets. 

Next morning, I visited an IDP camp and a small clinic run by Christian missionaires. Despite of it all, people carried on their lives toiling earth on a nearby hill, planting meger vegetables gardens, and collecting firewoods from the riverbank. 

When asked how is the condition of this camp compared to others along the border, the camp coordinator replied, by far the best, because the ones from the north have over a foot of snow.

 This missery was placed upon us simply because we desire to be equally represented or refused to sign a ceasefire which has no code of conducts or monitoring mechanism.

Advocacy ဆိုတာ နစ္နာသူမ်ားကိုယ္စား၊ အမ်ားကိုယ္စား ျပည္သူ႕အသံကို သယ္ေဆာင္လာေပးျခင္း၊ ဆံုးျဖတ္ခ်က္ခ်မႈမ်ားမွာ ပါ၀င္စြက္ဖက္ျခင္းနဲ႕ ေနာင္အခါ အလားတူ ကိစၥမ်ား ထပ္မံ ျဖစ္ပြားမႈ မရွိေအာင္ မူ၀ါဒမ်ား ေျပာင္းလဲျခင္းအထိ ပါ၀င္ႏိုင္ပါတယ္။
Advocacy ဆိုတာ ကိုင္တြယ္ေျဖရွင္းဖို႕ ေရြးခ်ယ္ထားတဲ႕ မူ၀ါဒ သို႕မဟုတ္ ျပသနာတခုခုကို ၀ိုင္း၀န္းကိုင္တြယ္ေျဖရွင္းႏိုင္ဖို႕ ေရတိုေရရွည္ ဗ်ဴ ဟာခ်မွတ္ျခင္း၊ မဟာမိတ္ျပဳျခင္း၊ ေငြ၊ နည္းပညာ၊ သတင္းအခ်က္အလက္မ်ားနဲ႕ လူအပါအ၀င္ အရင္းအျမစ္မ်ား စုေဆာင္းျခင္းေတြျပဳလုပ္ျပီး project cycle တခုလို ေဆာင္ရြက္ျခင္းဘဲ ျဖစ္တယ္။
ျမန္မာႏိုင္ငံမွာ မဟာမိတ္မ်ားမ်ားရဖို႕ Activists မ်ားနဲ႕ CSO မ်ား၊ ႏိုင္ငံေရးသမားမ်ား၊ သက္ဆိုင္ရာ ပညာရွင္မ်ား အခ်င္းခ်င္း ကူညီေစာင့္ေရွာက္ဖို႕ ခ်ိတ္ဆက္ထားျခင္း၊ သူ႕ကိစၥမွာ ကိုယ္က ကူညီ ။ ကိုယ္လိုအပ္ရင္ သူ၀ိုင္းကူ လုပ္မွ ရပါတယ္။ ကိုယ္လိုတဲ႕ အခ်ိန္မွာသာ လာဆြဲသံုးလို႕ ရတဲ႕ ကိစၥမ်ိဳး မဟုတ္ပါဘူး။ Alliance ဆိုတာ အတူတကြ ၀ိုင္း၀န္းေဆာင္ရြက္ဖို႕ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။

 Kachin, Karen, Chin, Mon, Myanmar, and Rakhine ethnic nationalities from Florida, Tennessee, Michigan, Georgia, Nebraska, New York, Pennsylvania, and Maryland participated in today's protest against Burma Army's unprovoked attack on November 19 that killed 23 cadets and wounded 20 others at KIO Officer Training School ground. Some protesters came from as far as Canada to join today's protest.

About 150 ethnic nationalities from Burma today held a protest in front of United Nation headquarters in New York.
Pounding rains did not deter protesters from demanding UN and international community to speak for the rights of ethnic nationalities and seek justice for those fallen on November 19 at KIO Officer Training Academy.

November 30, 2014 Dear Friends and Colleagues, On Nov 19, 2014, the Burma Army launched a surprise artillery attack on the Military Academy of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) near its Laiza headquarters, killing 23 officer cadets and injuring 20 cadets and trainers.
